Mandatory fall watering restrictions now in effect
Now that cooler autumn temperatures are on their way to Southern Nevada, mandatory fall seasonal watering restrictions are in effect through October 31. The restrictions limit both turf and drip irrigation to three specific days per week, based on each customer’s assigned watering group.
Watering days for residents and businesses in watering groups A, C and E are Monday, Wednesday and Friday; those in groups B, D and F may water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Sprinkler watering is prohibited on Sunday. In addition, sprinkler watering other than on those days assigned to your group is considered water waste, which may result in a water-waste fee.
For a free landscape-watering schedule or to find your watering group, call the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s Conservation Helpline at 702-258-SAVE or log on to snwa.com.
Springs Preserve gears up for fall special events
The Springs Preserve is gearing up for a full slate of special events this fall, starting with the adults-only Grapes & Hops Festival and the family-friendly Haunted Harvest, leading up to the colorful and popular Día de Muertos celebration.
Slated for Saturday, September 30, from 5-9 p.m., Grapes & Hops offers up samples of fine wines, unique craft beers, and food from some of Las Vegas’ finest restaurants—with proceeds benefiting Par for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. This event is open to adults ages 21 and over only.
Meanwhile, spooktacular fun for all ages awaits those who dare enter the Springs Preserve's annual Haunted Harvest. The family-friendly event features trick or treat stations, carnival games and circus activities, a petting zoo, crafts, live entertainment, and much more fun.
The ninth annual Día de Muertos event, November 3-5 from 4-9 p.m., will celebrate the ancient remembrance of passed loved ones with live theater and dance performances, mariachis, face painting, sugar skull decorating and an art exhibition. The event also will feature an altar contest with cash prizes awarded in Traditional, Artistic, Nonprofit, Personal and People’s Choice categories.
